Sorting
Sorting can be one of the most rewarding processes in keeping your
home organized. As we often say, everyone has their own set of circumstances
surrounding their chaos which can determine the style or complexity
of the sorting process. Regardless of the type of sort, it is wise
to have the following sorting tools available before starting: boxes,
tape, trash bags, shredder, hangers, and a labeler or permanent
marker.
Before
you begin, establish sorting categories such as: keep, give away,
sell, trash. Next, determine your sorting goal. If you can't get
through an entire room, start with the closet or a shelf or drawer.
Try to establish a time limit for your sort. If you can't decide
which category to place an item, put it in the keep pile for now.
If you come across a box of several things that you will have
to perform a detailed sort on, place it in the keep pile to sort
later so you stay on task.
Questions
you may want to ask yourself while sorting are:
Do
I love it?
Does it work?
Do I use it regularly?
Do these clothes fit today?
Has it or is it being taken care of?
Do I have enough space to keep this?
